DIY Prom Dress

Hi everyone! I designed and made my dress for my senior prom this year. It is very whimsical with its bright colors, spray painted flowers, and sequence fabric that sparkles where ever I go. I made it short and poofy, with a lace up in the back.

When I designed this dress, I made sure it defined ME: fun and crazy! :)

Here is an easy tutorial for a convertible dress by Rowena of rostitchery that can be worn many different ways for many different occasions. The dress only requires one single seam; the only difficult part is shapeshifting your dress to the look desired.

I love this easy and really simple DIY to make the perfect summer dress for yourself. All you need is a shirt and a fabric of your choice for the skirted bottom. (studs and pearls) notes that, “It’s so so so easy to make. Perfect for beginner level seamstresses, & doesn’t need crazy cutting & measuring. As long as you know some basic sewing, my general run through should be enough to guide you.”
Therefore, if you’re just starting summer and looking for your first stab at DIY, this is perfect. Just check it out here.

I made this in brown. It’s so very simple and it was satisfying to make a real, wearable, functional dress!

Here is a tutorial for the more advanced DIY-er skilled in sewing. Click on the picture for more details complete with awesome step-by-step instructions alongside pictures to follow. I’m really loving this inspired American Apparel “Le Sac”-type dress that allows you to wear a piece many different ways, for much cheaper.
